The Ruska courtyard is hot news, and this place is the cherry on the cake. Wroclaw's hight societygather amid a decadent background of moth-eaten sofas, stark concrete walls and thrift-store furnishings in what rates as a must-visit venue. On the speakers, everything from cool 60s tracks to smooth jazz tunes. Atmosphere in abundance, and a crowd that could have stepped from the pages of top-shelf magazine.

What was once a dark, smoky space has been reinvented as a light, modern space with a curvy bar, abstract artwork and some bright yellow walls signed with marker pens by previous guests. It's nothing great, but do check beforehand if they have a liveband in - the occasional performances are enough to make a visit worthwhile.

Excellent basement drinking zone with vaulted ceilings, framed pics of pre-war Breslau and jumble sale junklike sewing machines and typewriters filling any available space. A couple of sofas and coat hangers add to the feeling you have just invaded the space of some mad old bat.

No prizes for guessing what music gets played. On the plus side the Indian-style back room is worth popping by, and the cushioned floor is superb if you plan on getting intimate with some lucky person .
